The first costume I ever bought is probably my most favourite! That's Deirdre Barlow's wedding jacket and is the star attraction whenever I exhibit my memorabilia. All of my costumes and accessories listed below.
This item was on eBay for around £20-30 and, with minutes left of the auction, I bidded on it and won. I really had never purchased Coronation Street costumes prior to this and although I knew it was worn by Deirdre Barlow (Anne Kirkbride), I didn't have a clue when she wore it. When it arrived I concluded that she must have worn it to some sort of event or wedding, and flicking through Glenda Young's Deirdre book, I found a photograph of Anne wearing it. It's from the episode she and Ken were due to be married but Tracey takes Amy into hospital after her buggy is bumped by Ray Langton's car. The wedding was postponed and a few weeks later when the ceremony was reorganised Deirdre wore a different jacket.
This is possibly my 2nd favourite piece. It's a S.O.S (Save Our Street) jumper from the 40th Anniversary Live Episode that the main characters wore in a bid to prevent the cobbles being lifted off of Coronation Street and tarmac laid down. It was purchased by Mark Llewellin for his Coronation Street exhibition at Daisy Nook and believed to have been worn by Roy Cropper (David Neilson). With special thanks to Mark Llewellin for the authenticity letter.
Hayley Cropper (Julie Hesmondhalgh) was one of the most iconic characters in all of Coronation Street history. This dress was previously displayed at the Daisy Nook Garden Centre, and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity written by previous owner Mark Llewellin.
This knitted top and cardigan worn by Izzy Armstrong (Cherylee Houston) was a real bargain on eBay and when costumes come up cheap I really can't resist adding them to my collection.
The 'Fiz' necklace is very much representative of a younger Fiz (Jennie McAlpine), and is definitely something she wore on the show in the early 2000s. The cardigan is from later years.
This leopard print scarf is VERY Bet Lynch! It was given to Mark Llewellin of the Daisy Nook Garden Centre and displayed within his Coronation Street exhibition. Special thanks to Mark for authenticating the item.
This t-shirt by Kirk (Andrew Whyment) was another eBay bargain, and if I'm entirely honest I can't remember buying it! I remember seeing the listing and a few weeks later it appeared through my letterbox. I sometimes buy that many items I forget what I bidded on!
Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas) changed his wardrobe very little over the years - I noticed him wearing this back in 2006 and more recently in 2015 in a brawl in the Rovers with Callum Logan!
From the wardrobe at Granada Television, this is a genuine apron as seen in Roy's Rolls Cafe, and probably worn by Roy Cropper. As it was previously displayed at the Daisy Nook Garden Centre, Corrie expert Mark Llewellin has authenticated the item.
If I recall this was the cheapest costume I bought on eBay! I think it was listed as "Granada Jumper" or something ridiculous like that, and the jumper, as worn by Maxine Peacock (Tracy Shaw), didn't get as many views on eBay as it should have.
This jumper style blouse worn by Hayley Cropper (Julie Hesmondhalgh) was bought about four days before my last exhibition and as I was away in the days leading up to it, I was concerned it wouldn't arrive!
The listing for this dress worn by Bev Unwin (Susie Blake) was very similar to the one for Maxine's jumper above, and I snapped it up for just a few pounds! It's very...tasteful.
This blouse can be seen worn by Mary Taylor (Patti Clare) in her wikipedia entry photograph, and the brooch was sent to me by Patti when I asked for something of Mary's for my collection.
This coat is VERY Julie (played by the wonderful Katy Cavanagh)! Bright fluorescent pink and 'loud' in appearance, it very much matches Julie's bubbly personality.
This blouse worn by Councillor Metcalfe (back in her Sally Webster days) was bought as part of a package which included a signed script and signed Roys Rolls tablemat. It was a fab little bundle and all for a brilliant price!
Until I got this tie as worn by Norris, I never realised the snazzy number of ties which he actually wears! Keep a look out next time there's a scene in the Kabin.
